A Pair a Dice in the Mojave

After 45 years of working out, you can label me as a bonafide gym rat. The best gyms were simple places. A large mat. A ring and some bags. A pile of iron, a couple of cages, and lifting platforms. Chrome, spandex and machines never helped me make a lift, slip a punch, or counter a throw. What made these gyms work for me were the people. What brought you respect in these places not your talent, but your tenacity. CrossFit China Lake is like that.
Pete owns CFCL. He ran a Fire Team in Afghanistan. Pet's perspective on GPP, the known and unknowable, and the strong are harder to kill, sets the tone of the box.
At CFCL, you first learn to survive a WOD, then you learn to attack it. Pete is always working at enhancing your assets and teaching you how to deploy them.
To be healthy you have to find balance. Work, rest, eat, play seems to be CFCL mantric chant. So, when is the next party?

This is not a Box for the weak at heart! They do scale WODs but push you to become a better athlete. Great Programming for the unknown and unknowable! They truly believe in Elite Fitness and want to see everyone achieve that!

Unfortunately, this is what CrossFit is coming too. CFCL is the perfect example of an opportunistic gym just riding the coat tails of the success of CF as a whole. Coaching is atrocious (coaches can't even move properly) - gym has a very "good old boy" feel - like it exists solely for it's close-knit few. Like best friends that opened a gym - nobody else could ever be in the club. But they'll take your money and make you sweat.
